I'm back

Hello Heathens, It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. The missing playlists have been posted below, and I promise there will be no more Chatgpt written articles on here. I had a lot of fun putting together the show this week. So far 2023 has been a great year for metal. More to come (soon) I promise. Keep Heavy The Sabbath Day 03.04.23 03.18.23 03.25.23

A small update

Hello Heathens, As I said awhile ago I have some updates to the free speech blog post that I dropped awhile ago and I didn’t get things together to post my update in time. I think that there are 3 main parts that I want to expand on a bit as it relates to free speech and they are the current limitations of the First Amendment, government vs corporate censorship, and “cancel culture”.

ChatGPT, Sluge metal, Ahab

Hello Heathens, Tomorrow I’ll have a longer post addressing some of the criticisms I got about my post on free speech. Overall the post was well received, but I should have some examples to back up my points about people getting fired for attending protests. Other than that this was a fantastic week for music. Generally I don’t like the band Ahab, but their new album is great! I would highly recommend checking out their newest album.

What is going on with the blog???

Hello Heathens, Now that I’ve had some time away from writing about music I decided that I want to do more with the blog and just write about music and games. I want to use this place as mostly a dumping ground for whatever bullshit I’ve been thinking about this week so expect a little bit more variety and frequency in my posts here. First thing I want to get out of the way is where I stand on free speech.

Stratovarius Retrospective, and missing playlists

What is the point of these? I love making lists, and what better band to give a retrospective than the Finnish legends Stratovarius. This is probably the biggest challenge for discog reviews I’ve put myself up to yet. Stratovarius has been a band for 30+ years and with a new release dropping soon they seem to show no signs of retiring anytime soon. The first time I heard this band was on some metal mix album that I bought while living in Finland.

Top 22 of 2022

Hello Heathens, I’ve had plenty of time to organize my thoughts and feelings about the top 30 or so albums I had from this year. Cuts were made to trim it down to 22 albums, and relistens were had. This last year was an exceptional year for music. We had a lot of big releases from metal world darlings which turned out to be fantastic albums, but in 2022 it was the smaller bands that really captured the metal world.

Back from unplanned hiatus

Hello Heathens, It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. I didn’t plan on taking a break from the show, and blogging. I got caught up in work and didn’t want to work on anything creative for a bit and just wanted to game and grind stuff out at work, but as work slows down I have time to do this again. I’m excited to be back to posting, and I still have to finish my Stratovarius retrospective.

Stratovarius Retrospective Part 1

What is the point of these? I love making lists, and what better band to give a retrospective than the Finnish legends Stratovarius. This is probably the biggest challenge for discog reviews I’ve put myself up to yet. New Music

Hello Heathens, Lots of new music on the show this week. In fact, ONLY new music on the show this week. I’m really pleased with this playlist even though it’s a lot of tracks from a few bands. I think that recently people have been focusing too much on the news and the general doom and gloom of the world and forgetting that the music world chugs on. 2022 has been a great year for new releases, and I’m glad that the back 1/3 of the year has a strong closing.

Last Show

Hello Heathens, Well this is the last show on KSUA. I’m sad that after so many years of being on this station that it’s coming to an end (for now), but I’m sure that with the move some changes to the show format will come. As I said in my last post, I’m excited to play music that isn’t FCC clean, and to be able to swear on air. When Harry Peterson and Larry Kensington invited me on to the show as a 3rd mic 13 years ago I never would have anticipated that I’d be around until now.
